About

History

Workplace and Health (WAH) Programme is a component of a public private partnership between Ministry of Health and Gleneagles JPMC Sdn Bhd to promote healthy lifestyles and prevent noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) in the community since 2019.

The prevention and control of NCDs is one of the Ministry of Health’s strategic priorities and is also a key focus of the Multisectoral Task Force for Health (MSTFH) which has a particular cross-functional team (CFT) to address ‘Supporting Active Communities’; whereas the management and prevention of CVDs is Gleneagles JPMC Sdn Bhd’s core business. The collective actions to address NCDs, including cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), are aligned with actions to achieve Brunei’s Vision 2035 and also the Sustainable Development Goals ie, SDG 3.4: By 2030, reduce by one third premature mortality from non-communicable diseases through prevention and treatment and promote mental health and well-being. The Key Performance Indicator (KPI) for the latter is the mortality rate attributed to CVDs, cancer, diabetes or chronic respiratory diseases.

Goal:
WAH Programme encourages workplaces to provide supportive environments and actions for employees to be active, eat healthy, be smoke-free and have good mental wellbeing.

Aim:
Develop/strengthen workplace healthy lifestyle programmes or workplace health promotion programmes in all government ministries.
